The day after a report that Democratic Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal had made false claims about his military service, CNN devoted 11 segments to the story. By contrast, CNN ran no segments on Republican Senate candidate Mark Kirk's admission that he had made a false claim about his military service in the two days after that story broke.

Breaking Away From Hell's Kitchen And Thinking About Wet "Teabaggers"

I think I'm about done with "Hell's Kitchen". It's been an interesting(like the old Chinese curse) experience but I'm almost done with massive food service work. Looks strongly like I may have another job. Hopefully not as new and as horrific.
The Networks were in orgasm today over the Glenn Beck and "Toon" Palin(Oh you know they are) teabaggers.
Well here's a few things everyboy knows, unless of course you're in the old(white folks) spastic corporate "News" on my teevee. Then you can't see beyond your limo.

When they lose they stage a national hissy fit of epic proportions and persuade the Village (where they are perceived as the personification of the heartland of America) that they are something very important. Now that they have their very own TV and radio networks featuring crazed right wing demagogues 24/7, they are more successful on those terms than ever. But they are nothing new, nothing new at all. They are mostly a bunch of cranky, white men with money who are trying desperately to hang on to their privileges. Same as it ever was.

They are what we have called "Republicans" for at least the last 30 years."

Health Care, Cable News Elites

FINALLY. I can sit down, relax and look at the "progressive" view of the news. On the Nets of course. Have to get up EARLY now to be at work by 8AM, and we're not supposed to use the Internet there for "personal use". My new job starts in 1 week and as a cook I'm sure I won't have access to a computer at that job, much less the web.
Sooo...from here on out looks like I'll have to wait till evening now to do all my computer Internet/stuffs.
I did watch and/or hear some of the talking head "News" on corporate cable this morning while getting ready. To them it's STILL a "he said, she said" world, with Republican talking points STILL dominating the discourse. The millionaire gang on NBC's Today Show seemed to be in a catty mood on the health care bill. Particularly Merideth Vieira. She was virtually sneering at David Axelrod when asking him about Republican(you know, the "bi-partisan" party) comments. I also heard comments by both Grampy McPain and Newt "serial adulteror" Gingrich within a few moments

Marijuana Files | Matt Lauer, Corporate Media's "Dick Of The Day"

One of the problems with being out of work is what to do while drinking my morning coffee. Unfortunately much of that time is watching corporate "InfoNews" on the tube. Case in point is the "Dick of the Day" Matt Lauer.
Matt's corporate masters at the GE/NBC Today Show had poor Michael Phelps on again for an "interview", and of course we all know beforehand what that means. As a matter of fact as they were introducing the interview I said out loud to no one in particular(no one here but me and my dogs)-"pucker up, and suck up Michael(it's time again to kiss American corporate ass, for being caught using the most benign drug known to humanity!)".
I know there's others who'd do a much better job of this semi-rant than I, The Rude Pundit for example comes to mind, but I'm sure they're engaged in much more serious work...or not. It's really the hypocracy folks. Anyone out there who thinks Matt "The Dick" Lauer has never smoked a little reefer raise your hands..and there you have it.
Media whore Matt even brought up the poor kid's mom, and made him apologize to her for using the same drug that millions of people use every day with no noticable damage. Of course I saw later that good ol' corporate Windstream has jumped on the "stomp the 8 gold medals(14 medals total) olympic swimmer" bandwagon.
Note to Jon Stewart; Have Michael Phelp's mom on your show to tell "Matt the Ho" to kiss your behind, and maybe suggest that if this is what smoking does for him maybe they should introduce it to the US Olympic locker rooms.
You know this could have been something good and the start of serious talks about our drug laws and the insanity of jailing casual marijuana users. But you can't have that. It's just more corporate Matt Lauer dancing bear tricks, Screw 'em and the corporate profits they ride in on!

Heard that the corporate "Infotainment" Today Show's having both Michael Phelps on, and the crazy bitch that had eight kids(to go with six others).
Let me see now, this is easy, they're going to handle her with kid gloves, asking her, in that classic emotive, plaintive, stroking "reporter" voice how she's holding up, about the kids, stroking her and make her into a heroine.
Michael Phelps, he of the evil killer weed. Him they'll treat like a child molester, or like he'd been seen exposing himself.
He'll be forced to apologize and grovel(Yep), because... well, because that's what Matt(Lauer's) corporate bosses want, it's what the DEA wants, and what big pharma wants.

Once Again | Why I Never Watch Corporate News

Jeff Cohen's excellent article sums up the corporate news very well. Fortunately(for my sanity) I'd quit them years before. Sometime around the Bill Clinton impeachment debacle and when the internet started becoming a viable news option. The Internet has been and continues to be a life saver for me. The only escape from the alternate universe of the corporate infotainment business.
It's not getting any better. Dumbya appears as a guest on a game show, Laura "The Lump" hosts the Today Show with obsequent regulars. I only see these little items while reading through internet news sites. The day they stop the free flow of information on the Net is the final nail in the coffin of freedom. Military Propaganda Pushed Me off TV

In the fall of 2002, week after week in debates televised on MSNBC, I argued vigorously against invading Iraq. I used every possible argument that might sway mainstream viewers - no real threat, cost, instability. But as the war neared, my debates were terminated.

In my 2006 book ""Cable News Confidential," I explained why I lost my airtime:

There was no room for me after MSNBC launched "Countdown: Iraq" - a daily one-hour show that seemed more keen on glamorizing a potential war than scrutinizing or debating it. "Countdown: Iraq" featured retired colonels and generals, sometimes resembling boys with war toys as they used props, maps and glitzy graphics to spin invasion scenarios. They reminded me of pumped-up ex-football players doing pre-game analysis and diagramming plays. It was excruciating to be sidelined at MSNBC, watching so many non-debates in which myth and misinformation were served up unchallenged.
