Robert Gibbs On Daily Rundown

Robert Gibbs gives Savanah and the Toddler his SOTU talking points:

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Obama will give a nice speech(DUH), some tough talking points(but not to tough, musn't point fingers), the obligatory Democratic hand across the aisle bi-partisonship redux, some wonderful plans for the country, how tough people are having it, naming a few names, how things are going well in Bush's(and Obama's) 2 wars)...
And then...He'll go back to the Oval Office and continue to do what's cost him the backing of his Democratic base; treating his Wall Street/banking employees(Geitner, etal) as if they care about me or millions of other Americans being unemployed, or anyone other than bankers and Wall Street for that matter, kissing Republican behinds(Cough!-Joe LIEberman-Cough!) while they call him unamerican, punching Liberal/Progressive "Hippies" in the face, expanding the Pentagon war machine, "freezing" domestic spending(that may be the dumbest one yet), etc. etc....
To say he's disappointed me so far is an understatement. I knew he wasn't a Liberal during the race and he wasn't my original choice but I did think that, unlike the herd of Democrats on Capital Hill he was smart, courageous and had a heart for people like me. Lesson learned so far.

Oh, and HERE'S a good idea. He could take instructions from Republicans, like good ol' Troll Eric Cantor. No way he'd steer a Democratic President wrong. BWAHAHAHA!

South Carolina Has been good at some things

Beating the KY Wildcats for example

Personally I'd rather have lost to Arkansas.
There may be a silver lining though. This young KY team may have learned that you don't win just by showing up.
Same lesson Democratic Pols in Massachusetts may have learned.

Thank Goodness For South Carolina!

As a Kentuckian I say that with all sincerety. Instead of corporate feeders like McConnell, Beshear, Chandler, etal., we could have the likes of Mark "Appalachian Trail" Sanford, Joe "You Lie!" Wilson, or the latest example of the South's finest Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer:

Basketball Contentment For UK Fans

Kentucky dismantled a pretty good Arkansas team and their former UK player coach yesterday by 101-70. Some highlights:

Funny part is the KY loss prediction by the FOX columnist at the beginning. Good stuff.

Tis Winter..and these Wildcats can PLAY...

Stop Serving the Opposition; Donate, Support Spines For Democrats

Damn, I'll second this:

"At the start of 2010, Democrats held the House, the White House, and a filibuster-proof margin in the Senate. They were put there by the largest, most energized, most committed electorate ever assembled. They were funded in large part by a broad base of individual donations that left them extraordinarily free to pursue policies without the threat of losing money supplied through a few select large donors. The electorate that had placed them in power knew well enough the policies they represented and the change they wanted to implement, and that electorate awarded them with majorities not seen in forty years.

Opposing them was a fading Republican Party whose policies had brought on a decade of disaster complete with unfinished wars, a crumbling economy, and intentional mismanagement of issues from health care to the environment. The combination of unrepentant greed, xenophobia, and brutality that is conservatism had proven no more practical in this application than it had in previous attempts, and the GOP was reduced to a boiling mix of regional interests confined to the South East and busy with their own internal struggles.

Democrats were primed to go on the offense. Ahead of them was a raft of issues: the right of workers to organize, universal health care, restriction of greenhouse gases, the creation of jobs, the regulation of an financial sector run amok, the reversal of laws that promote bias and hatred, the resolution of those bungled wars, rolling back a tide of eroded civil rights, and restraining the growing economic gap between a few elites and the vast majority of Americans. No party had faced so great a challenge -- or had so great an opportunity -- in more then seventy years. There was quite literally nothing to fear but their own shadows and nothing in their way but their own egos.

Sadly, that proved more than sufficient."
Continue..
Go here for some Liberal perspective on Obama's first year from Princeton politics and African American studies professor Melissa Harris-Lacewell and journalist Eric Alterman on Bill Moyer's Journal Friday night. I tried to embed it with no luck. I think I have a crush on Professor Harris-Lacewell, brains and beauty.

Games - MMORPG's, Lord of the Rings Online | Help The Bloggers

I've started playing Lord of the Rings Online(10 free trial of course) another MMORPG similar to WoW. So far I prefer World of Warcraft, buuuut I haven't really played LOTR online enough to get a comfortable feel for it, get the game controls set as I like them, etc. Of course in ten days they'll be set pretty good when it runs out(c:.
Look there's me!

So far it feels pretty awesome in the gameplay department.
More later maybe, after it's over.

Vault.

Hey, As always; If you can donate do so at the upper right.
My unemployment checks are over looks like. I'm still applying to about 10+ jobs a week(Blogging doesn't make a living), online and out in the world.
And yes I've cut out WoW, to expensive. As much as I love it, and gaming. I feel guilty when I'm Blogging 'cause I'm not looking for work instead.
Things are getting "interesting" as an old Chinese curse goes.
Give to Haiti, animals, your favorite charities, and then, theeen if you have some extra bucks, give a few to a needy Blogger. Thank you...!

The Late Night Leno/O'Brien War

I'm just not sure?
I do feel Conan O'Brien was treated a bit shabbily but I just can't feel badly for a guy who's walking away with a gazillian dollars in his pockets. Of the two I think Conan is the funnier but neither is in my top five for funniest man.
Here's a few videos to try and explain it.

Video - Across The Known Universe, And Back Again

Would I take this trip? I'd love to try.
Even if I couldn't make it back, wouldn't it be just the greatest adventure?
I've always had this unquenched yearning and sadness for the stars.
I used to climb a mountain behind my home when young(er) and take in the gorgeous vista of the stars in their unobstructed glory. And wish...
From the American Museum of Natural History this is The Known Universe. Best to full screen it of course:

It would be good to get back to old Earth again. The cradle of humanity. As Carl Sagan famously called it, "a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam".

The Kennedy Seat; Talking Heads Redux

If I could only get the pundits in one room.

While I'm here and not looking for a job:
Regarding Ted Kennedy's old seat and the chattering about how it was lost due to teh eviiil health care bill.
WRONG!
It's because the Democrat running was a corporate bought and paid for shill that thought she could saunter into the office. The election perfectly reflected people's simmering anger over the economy and continued lack of jobs. People see bailed-out bankers getting fat bonuses while they personally can't find a job. That includes ME. I'm a Liberal Democrat and I'm mad as hell.
As someone astute once said: "It's the economy stupid"
Does anyone know why Ted Kennedy's widow didn't run? I thought she was far nicer than the "I won't stoop to shaking hands" Democratic candidate, and would have beat Mister Cosmo centerfold easily.

My World of WoW Characters

Okay as promised here's my 'Toons, as they're called in World of Warcraft. I've played the game well over a year and my first and highest level character is only a lowly level 48. That alone will tell you that I don't get to play a lot:-)
Here they are interested WoW players(and others), oldest to youngest;

Uriahheep, Lvl 48 human warrior:

Gentry, Lvl 46(now)human Paladin:

Winter, Lvl 35(now) human mage:

Dredloc, Lvl 30 human warloc:

And, last but not least; Aidrena, Lvl 15 Night Elf Hunter:

For what it's worth I'm sure I'm one of the older WoW players. And I kinda suck at PvP, and prefer PvE. More later, maybe..

Saturday Video - Pearl Jam

Hello Passerbys and visitors. Hope you're having a great weekend. We went to visit my brother's family, and my sister who's staying with them in Richmond. About a 2 hour drive round trip. The KY Wildcats won! With John "highlight film" Wall.
I got to see the last 8 minutes or so of the game.
Poor Haiti. It looks like we'll have to do some Nation building there. What can you do though? Hope we can make it better.
Here's Pearl Jam, with a live version of "Just Breathe"

I'm obviously not posting much. I don't have a day job(or any) sitting at the computer all day with the Internet in front of me like the old days. I haven't lost interest and I certainly keep up with the news and have the Internet here. But, there's always other things needing doing. So much other things to do.
Just looking for work again is a nearly 4 hour a day job and the other minutiae of everyday life when I'm not being paid to sit at the computer.
I play a couple of hours a day of World of Warcraft. Because, well why not? It's the only time I'm not worrying.
Maybe next post I'll do a bit on that with all my "toons" in the game. That might be interesting.
Better than whining for a job. Right? RIGHT??

Well gonna go play WoW.

The Political Winner Of The Day! "Ten Reasons Not To Hate Joe Lieberman?"

I agree, but I could finish the list(for instance, my #3; "No matter what anyone says, Insurance Joe did NOT kiss John McCain's behind on national tv....much.").

From Ken Kupchik;

10) Because he might follow Dodd's lead, and not run for re-election

9) Everyone hates him--try being unique

8) Because if you didn't hate him, he wouldn't be on Sunday talk shows every single week

7) Those adorable jowls

6) He is loyal to his constituents (who work in Aetna's corporate headquarters)

5) Because he supports universal health care (Okay, in Israel, but still...)

4) I couldn't come up with ten.... :-(
