Happy New Year Passerbyers(that's not really a word is it?). Don't over do it but have a great New Year's Eve!
Rachael Maddow explains to the MSM how a little research and history shows how full of crap T.H.E.(The Horrifically Evil) Dick Cheney and his hypocritical Rightwing brethren are. Every. Time.

A Christmas Story. I haven't gotten to see it yet this year. Maybe tonight...

Well the National health care bill made it through the Senate barely alive. It's a flop in so many ways. With that said, If(Big if) it's just a first step to a good, cheap, universal health care for all, then the stink will start to fade and this could be something good someday. THAT I can live with(how's that). I had an email this morning from President Obama asking for a thank you to all the Senators who passed it here. Here's part of what he wrote:
Although it's Christmas Eve, I wanted to share some exciting news: The Senate just passed a historic health reform bill.
In all the back and forth, it's easy to lose sight of what this incredible breakthrough really means. But consider this: This Christmas, there are millions of Americans without health insurance who risk losing everything if they get sick.
There are mothers and fathers who wonder how they'll provide for their children because an illness has wiped out their savings. There are small business owners who worry that they'll have to lay off a long-time employee because the cost of insurance is rapidly rising.
If we finish the job, all this can change. We will have beaten back the special interests who have for so long perpetuated the status quo. We will have enacted the most important piece of social policy since the Social Security Act in the 1930s, and the most important health reform since Medicare in the 1960s.

Keith Olbermann held no punches tonight in describing what has happened to the great dream of National "Health Care" once it reached the Senate's Republicans and corporate Democrats, with the distant blessing of the Obama White House:

I agree with the Doctor:
Howard Dean: ‘Best Thing to Do Is Kill the Senate Bill’
And wait for corporate Joe Lieberman to die. Apparently that's the only way to get him to stop doing Rahm Emmanuel dirty work.

The most accurate description of the Health Care Bill, or the watered down gift to the insurance industry coming nearly comatose out of the senate is from Firedoglake:
This Isn’t Health Reform; It’s Extortion for a Protection Racket
I saw Ron Wyden on the Rachel Maddow Show giving a heroic effort to make this(HCR) turd look good. Why he bothered I don't know(I guess he got paid, and there's always that tv face time).
Regarding Joe Lieberman(R, Asshat). How these "progressive" Dems can remain on good terms with a slimy weasel like "sell out Joe" is beyond me. Hell, the 2008 Joe/McCain slap in the face would have done it for me. The most amazing thing- they keep coming back to Joe for more, they'll continue to kiss his wrinkled behind, he'll continue to kick them(and us) in the face. It's been happening since at least 2000.
Here's the runner-up from Kos
Congratulations, Senate Dems!!!
And also from Kos a nice Christmas carol for "Insurance company Joe", to the tune of "Silver Bells":
City ERs, busy ERs
Come and sit for a while
In the air
There's a feeling of nausea
Children crying
People dying
Thanks to Cigna denials
And on ev'ry street corner you'll hear:
"Lieberman!" "Lieberman!!!"
It's turncoat time in the Senate
What a jerk. Watch him smirk.
"Health care reform? Not today!"
He says "No way"
Then says "Yes way"
Then says "No way" again
As he spins Harry Reid like a dreidel
Hear him bullshit
See him pull shit
This is Joe's big MO
Big Insurance owns him toe to ear
"Lieberman!" "Lieberman!!!"
He'll filibuster 'til doomsday
Obstructing
And lying
Soon let us hope he will pay
Soon let us hope he will paaaaaay!

This is an amazing video. If using tools is a sign of intelligence then this octopus is the Stephen Hawking of invertebrates. It's carrying it's shelter.

Surprise! The powers that be LOVE illegal drugs, the Drug money that is.
Drug money worth billions of dollars kept the financial system afloat at the height of the global crisis, the United Nations' drugs and crime tsar has told the Observer.

Found this at Open Salon. Check out the poll numbers in these neat little charts from FOX. Anything seem odd?
I mean, you'd think that at some point even a FOX News viewer would go; "What the! Hey now, wait just a doggone minute! 73% + 63% + 60% equals? Aah...Aah..
Look over there, evil Democrats! Evil Democrats!!

Greetings all.
Hope you've had a Great weekend and a nice Christmas season!
Mine's been a bit depressing. My job for the last 23+ years I always got a Xmas bonus which was(obviously) a blessing this time of year and that's no more along with a LOT less money period. BUUUuut, there are lot's of people who have it a LOT worse than I. So as always, there's that.
It's a strange times though..the Blog even seems pointless a lot(Gasp!). It affects everything. ANYWAY enough of that, I keep the fires burning here every now and then so I'm alive and online.
Completely unrelated. Here's my Station selection on Pandora Internet Radio at this very moment(I know, how exciting);
Alternative/Pop Rock
Celtic Traditional
Classical Christmas
British Invasion
Delta Blues
Old Time Country
Alternative Country
Reggae/Caribbean
Opera, Arias
New Age Mix
New Age Pop
Pop/Rock
Grunge/Seattle sound
Alternative/Indie
Coldplay
Note; Understand, these are all my first selections from the list. Not that long ago I frequented Slacker.
Just checking in. Oh, and I may have a job. It's almost twice as far away and pays about $5.40 less an hour(shoot me now).:-/
Note: One more note on reading this post(and others); If I had a decent editor I might have been a "writer", or Blogger of Note:-)

I pretty much agree with him:
I really don’t know how this country is supposed to operate when one of the two political parties is composed almost entirely of crazy assholes.
..And the other party's usual reaction is to say, "Thank you sir, may I have another!"...

Hilarious...
Sadly, No! delves into the paranoid Wingnut's view of Google, which it seems is(as if you didn't know) a pawn of the evil mastermind Al Gore.
Here:
The RedState Trike Force Rides Again
Don't forget the comments. They are teh LOL.
Note: Speaking of Google, their ads(above) apparently have reached the insane conclusion that my Liberal site is a gathering place for Republicans. Their ads have become nearly all GOP, all the time. Strange...
When I get around to it I'll deep six 'em anyway. They've made me exactly $0.00 money in 8 months.

Silly, you thought Big bloated Insurance companies would at least wait till their Congress critters(Cough, Lieberman, Cough) killed health care reform before showing even more gluttony and avarice.
"Health insurance giant Aetna is planning to force up to 650,000 clients to drop their coverage next year as it seeks to raise additional revenue to meet profit expectations…"
If this isn't a perfect example of why we MUST have a strong Public Option in the National health care bill. Even better, it's what the majority of Americans want.

Daughter Brittany and I are going down to the mountains tomorrow morning for the weekend. Through the trip she'll be watching DVD's, texting(till she runs out of signal) and listening to mp3's. Sometimes all at the same time.:-)
Going to throw up a post or so before bedtime.
Here's a little gem; In honor of the 10th anniversary of the International Space Station NASA is giving away a Calender with pics & information, here.

Okay, why does Google Ads(above), for the last month or so think I'm conservative Republican? I'm not even sure why I still have them up.
I installed them shortly after I was laid off(7+ months ago) along with the "donate" button as desperate income measures. AND just like the donate button I've yet to make a dime on them. At least the "donate" button just sits there and doesn't actually throw up stuff I often disagree with. So keep this in mind when viewing my page...and those ads.
If(yes if not when) I can get a job AND if I'm still Blogging I'll dump the ads at least. The donate button at least provides some sad amusement.
And speaking of money; While the states have gone broke, Barack Obama is going to be spending another $1 million dollars per soldier per year per 30,000+ in the "Killer of Empires". WAY TO GO CORPORATE WAR machine!
Today's Headline:
The Kentucky Department of Education plans to cut its spending by about $20 million over the rest of this fiscal year, which could affect many programs in local school districts around the state.
