Still around Net surfers(crickets...)!
Just awfully busy for someone who's barely makin'it. I did have a job interview yesterday. It went well and I knew going in that I didn't have a very good chance of getting it. It's just a receptionist/secretary position(yes, I'll GLADLY take a secretary/receptionist job, if it's FULL time with benefits!). I'm pretty sure they're looking for someone half my age, not my gender and probably a degree. It would be a pretty good little job though. We'll see, I gave it my best shot. If I don't hear by Wednesday I'll know I didn't get it.
Have to work tonight at my low-end part time job:-( Gotta start getting ready in a few minutes for that.
Anyway, I'm still kickin' and just wanted to check in.
Not much Blogging, Tweeting or anything going on these days. Here's one of the photo shots I took today on the deck.



An orchid I rescued that's been doing great out there in the semi-shade. Be back later. Going to look at some news. Like everyone I've been keeping my fingers crossed that the gulf oil leak is shut off for good. More later.

Still Alive? The Photos of Rodney Alcala

NYPD releases over 200 photos belonging to serial killer Rodney Alcala. Do you know any of these people? It's a pretty good bet that at least some of them were murdered by Alcala.













All the images are believed to have been taken by serial killer Rodney Alcala, who is in prison in California for a series of murders there between 1971 and 1979. Some of the photos look like they were taken in isolated places.
More strangeness. Rodney Alcala was on "The Dating Game" in 1978 and is the main suspect in at least one murder even then. Here's the clip.

Happy Labor Day America! Continuing Education....Oh, And Some Pics!

Unfortunately there still hasn't been an offering of a "labor" position for me(yeah I know, and millions of others). I even uploaded and/or emailed 4 resumes for jobs today.
I got some papers from the Department of Labor a few days ago giving me some information on government grants, etc. for college. AND..I could probably still receive unemployment benefits while I went for a degree! It's just that with my age and this economy I don't even know if that will help much.
I have been thinking seriously about it though.
Going back to school. Maybe We'll see.

I haven't quit posting also been pretty busy. It doesn't much matter this blog(small "b") isn't a job(it doesn't pay). It's just a little "Log" of mine, or diary if you will. Sigh..If it paid I wouldn't have any worries and could Blog all the time(I know, frightening thought!).
Anyway I'm still around passerbyes and here's hoping you have a nice and safe remainder to your Labor Day.

Newsflash: Going Away! Fishing The Little South Fork Kentucky

I'm leaving tomorrow for a visit "Into the mountains"(Get it? Into? Aah..), and won't be back till sometime Saturday. No web access, and not even taking a computer if there were any. I'm staying in a friend's "cabin" by the South Fork of the Kentucky river. Hoping to do lots of stream wade fishing, some hiking, photos, lazying on the deck with a beer(and such) and visitin'. Maybe do some canoe fishing on the Beech Creek Reservoir.
I'll be out of touch with news and tv to. Some solitude and nature is about it.

Random Acts of Photos | Boonesboro Beach, And an Ancient Oak

A few random local photos. The first is a few shots taken of a nearly deserted Boonesboro Beach on a cloudy day. The beach is near Fort Boonesboro(You know, Dan'l Boone's home town) Kentucky.




The second set is of an ancient oak tree near Harrodsburg Road in Lexington Kentucky. I was told this tree probably sprouted around 1707.
This tree was old when our country started.

The International Year of Astronomy, The "You Decide" Winner

The International Year of Astronomy is the celebration of the 400th anniversary of Galileo's first observations with a telescope. People around the world came together to participate in the IYA's 100 Hours of Astronomy, April 2 to 5. This global astronomy event was geared toward encouraging as many people as possible to experience the night sky.

Arp 274, also known as NGC 5679, is a system of three galaxies that appear to be partially overlapping in the image, although they may be at somewhat different distances. The spiral shapes of two of these galaxies appear mostly intact. The third galaxy (to the far left) is more compact, but shows evidence of star formation.

Two of the three galaxies are forming new stars at a high rate. This is evident in the bright blue knots of star formation that are strung along the arms of the galaxy on the right and along the small galaxy on the left.

The largest component is located in the middle of the three. It appears as a spiral galaxy, which may be barred. The entire system resides at about 400 million light-years away from Earth in the constellation Virgo.

Giant Pandas After The Chinese Quake

The May 12 earthquake killed five staff at the Wolong-based China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center. Three of 10 pandas that went missing have not been found. The center has 60 pandas now.
