I know you've seen this already a dozen times, but it should be repeated another dozen. I don't really pretend anymore to know what the Democrats are doing, what their plan is, if any. They'll do one little minor accomplishment, so I'll think, well that's pretty good, they're growing a spine. Then they turn around as regular as clockwork and give away the farm, fold like limp cardboard. They're all set to do it again, on numerous fronts. From just kissing Bush behind on wiretapping(again):

I assume the Congressional Democrats firmly believe they have a lock on 2008. Their motives for consistently folding I've given up trying to understand, but they sure believe in that 2008 lock. That we've just no where else to go and in a big way they're right. But I hope they can comprehend how many Democrats are becoming so dillusioned and outright embarrased by their capitulating that there's a chance the next surrender, or maybe the one after that will lead a few million Democrats to stay home on election day in disgust. Who could blame them.

Quite predictably, once the Republicans had bullied the Democrats into denouncing their own (and yes, ladies and gentlemen, with over 3 million members MoveOn is your own, like it or not) they began the process of trying to make the "Democrat" party the party of MoveOn. George Bush did it himself, laying a trail of bread crumbs even the Snickers obsessed and the fashion challenged could follow.."

It was yet another of those highly secret visits to Mesopotamia for the sole purpose of more media chicanery by a unitary executive answerable only to God himself. This time he left his plastic turkey behind to pimp the real turkey of the continuation of his disastrous war and occupation that will apparently be allowed to go on until the bodies are piled all the way to Jesus much to the delight of the Raptureheads. The dude ranch cowboy (who is allegedly afraid of horses) never set foot outside of “Camp Cupcake,” the nickname for the desert resort military base where the dog and pony show was conducted. Staying true to form, the majority of the disgusting excuse for a media fawned over the improving situation. Bush has had the cadre of elitist Washington careerists eating out of his hand from day one and they will soon be doing their stupid pet tricks in shilling for hitting Iran, but that is for later. The first task is the relaunch of the new and improved product: Iraq Version 2.0.."

.."Let's set aside the idea that "trusting" the Bush administration with warrantless wiretaps is like trusting your four year old with a zippo lighter, what kind of bucket-of-lukewarm-spit kind of politics is this? What are they afraid of, that the Bush administration will blame them if a terrorist attack occurs and they didn't approve another blank check? Guess what? It wouldn't matter if the Democrats named Bush king with the power to draw and quarter hippies and Muslims on the white house lawn, they will still blame the Democrats if there is another terrorist attack.

I do not know what this latest program is, but whatever it is, it needs to be approved by somebody other than the White House. I'm sorry, but that should be non-negotiable. Dick Cheney has delegated to himself virtually limitless power and he is borderline insane. The executive branch cannot be trusted with additional power of any kind. They have quite enough, thank you.

Here we are trying to pry from the Bush administration just what in the hell was in the "other intelligence activities" they were doing before the entire upper management of the Department of Justice threatened to resign, and the Dems are now publicly capitulating to white house demands that they give them more warrantless surveillance powers --- and Harry Reid is whining about how he hopes the Republicans will work with him? Talk about muddying the waters. The substance is nuts and the politics are nuts.."
