The Levee Video That Scared The Corps And The Engineers

A group of high schoolers made an investigative video of the New Orleans levees, the Corps of Engineers, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. The ASCE was supposed to have investigated the corp's work, they(the ASCE) then got a million dollars for their efforts. Both groups forced YouTube to take down the student's video but it's back up(for now). Here it is:

This video totally misses the point. The Army is part of the Defense Department. The Defense Department is supposed to keep us safe from foreign threats, not Acts of God. Ultimately it's the American taxpayer footing the bill. And why are American taxpayers being asked, no TOLD, that they have to pay for levees so that $400,000 homes can be built in formerly destitute neighborhoods which happen to be in the stupidest place on earth to build and live? It's idiotic. New Orleans should be abandoned and left to the Gulf of Mexico. When are New Orleans residents going to start subsidizing MY mortage and flood insurance? I'm fed up with paying high taxes to subsidize idiocy. Disband the Corps of Engineers and abandon New Orleans. Do something smart for a change. Rebuild New Orleans north of Lake Pontchartrain.

Actually the point wasn't whether you think the C.O.E. should exist, or whether N.O. is in fact in "the stupidist place on earth to build and live", or even whether the army c.o.e. should be involved. The only point to this posting was that the C.O.E. paid the ASCE $1,000,00.00 apparently to pat them(C.O.E.) on the back. As for you paying "high taxes" that would depend on your income and the percentage of that you pay.

Oops, that's $1,000,000.00.
